THE CHALLENGE:
Create a wall installation that can serve as a landmark on the Ripon College campus and reflect the institution's brand, yet still help the space feel energetic and student-owned.

THE SOLUTION:
Move away from the college's visual brand standards and focus more on core values and overall philosophy. This allowed me to make the overall design a unique landmark with the postcard mural and bring in lots of color and energy to the space. Yet the brand of the college was still able to be reflected in the different text and the photos chosen for inside each letter.
RESEARCH PROCESS & IMAGERY
Wanting the installation to really have that "landmark" vibe was a major influence on the decision to go with a giant postcard wall for the design. Vintage postcard murals can be found in almost every major city around the United States and they create iconic photo opportunities for visitors. They also have the unique quality of being a design that perfectly blends vintage nostalgia with modern trends. In the research stages, I reviewed dozens of postcard murals and actual vintage postcards to determine specific details for the final wall design.
